La Repubblica (h/t Express) claims that Nikola Milenkovic’s agent is in talks with Manchester United over a move in January. The 21-year-old Fiorentina defender has been impressive for the Serie A club and the report adds that Jose Mourinho had watched the Serbian earlier in the season.
Although the manager has been replaced at the club, United are pushing ahead to sign the talented youngster. The report adds that United want to bolster their squad for new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the club have reached a point where a transfer for Milenkovic is possible in the winter window.
Fiorentina are in no pressure to sell the player as he has a contract until 2022, and the report adds that the 21-year-old could cost around £45m.
The Red Devils need to bring some fresh faces into the side as we look to finish in the top four. Moreover, we have a tough Champions League encounter in 2019 as we play Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
Milenkovic is young and has the potential to get better under the right manager. That is a big question at United since Solskjaer has been appointed until the end of the season.
