Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is plotting a move for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk, according to Express.

The English defender, who signed a new contract with the Seagulls in October, has now featured for the national side and impressed.

Everton, Southampton and Leicester are also interested in the 26-year-old, but the report claims that the Red Devils are confident of signing the defender.

Manchester United need to strengthen their defence and must spend in the January window. Brighton would possibly ask for a considerable amount for the player given his contract situation at the club.

The 26-year-old has made 11 appearances for the Seagulls this season with a couple of goals to his name. Brighton have done well since gaining promotion last season, and it will be interesting if they are willing to part with one of their key players.

Dunk could be a decent signing for us and certainly would be cheaper than some of the defenders from the top European leagues.

The Englishman seems to be getting better with each game under his belt and could be one of our smarter buys under Mourinho.
