Manchester United summer target available for loan deal in January

Gary Cahill

Chelsea are willing to let Gary Cahill leave on loan before his contract ends with the club in the summer, according to the Mirror.

The Englishman isn’t the first-choice under Maurizio Sarri as David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger have been preferred in the heart of the defence.

Cahill has only played 21 Premier League minutes but has three starts in the Europa League. The English defender also played in two League Cup games, however, his chances of regular Premier League minutes seems limited.

The report adds that Chelsea will allow Cahill to leave as Sarri cannot guarantee him minutes this season. The 32-year-old could alert a number of clubs who were interested in the summer.

Manchester United were one of the clubs keeping an eye on the centre-back, as per the report, and are in need of defensive reinforcements.

The Red Devils have played with Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling in the back, however, we didn’t buy any central defenders in the summer.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to rate Marcos Rojo or Eric Bailly at the back, and we need to spend in the winter window if we are to do well.

United’s defence hasn’t been great all season as we have conceded 21 goals from 12 Premier League games.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea sanction a move for Cahill, but the Englishman would only be a decent back-up rather than a starter for the Red Devils.
