Tuttosport (h/t Mirror) have linked Juventus defender Medhi Benatia with a move to Manchester United.
The Moroccan defender isn’t a regular for Juventus with five games under his belt this season, and the report adds that the 31-year-old could be a cut-price move for United as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options.
The report adds that United are looking for a defender in the winter window, and were linked with moves for Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire. However, neither Premier League defender was able to make the switch to the Red Devils.
Benatia was one of the best defenders prior to him signing for Bayern Munich and needs to revitalise his career.
The 31-year-old was earlier quoted by La Stampa (h/t Mirror) saying he needs to play more football and was open to a move in the winter window.
“I am 31 and I want to play as much as I can. Let’s see what happens in January, how many games I will play. Let’s see if Juve and Allegri need me. I am here to give my best and that’s what I will do until I’m here.”
The player’s age might be a concern for United, given that we need someone reliable that can play at the heart of our defence for a few years.

Benatia is a quality player but we should only be targeting him if we can get him on the cheap.
