Herrera wants to stay at United and has spoken about a new two-year deal but there has been no progress on that front so far. (Sun)
The Spaniard has made just a couple of appearances for us this season and is currently nursing an injury. He joined us from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 and has been one of the more consistent players in the team.
Losing Herrera on a free would hurt a bit given he is a quality player and adds depth to the side. He is versatile and can play anywhere in the midfield. In recent times, United have taken a significant amount of time to extend contracts of some of their players.
Marouane Fellaini has only just signed a deal to stay at United after series of speculations. However, playing the waiting game with Herrera could backfire on us.
The 29-year-old can do a fantastic job for many clubs in Europe. And if Barcelona come calling, it might be difficult to keep him at Old Trafford.
