Chile have decided not to name Alexis Sanchez for their upcoming friendly matches in Asia. The South American side are set to face Japan and South Korea but Reinaldo Rueda claims that Manchester United “need him in a difficult moment”, as per Sky Sports.
Manchester United have lost two of their first three Premier League games this season. The latest defeat came at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur by a scoreline of 3-0. United had their chances but we were let down by our defenders.
Sky Sports claimed that this marks Jose Mourinho’s worst home defeat in his career and Rueda added that the trip with the Chile side would be “exhausting”.
Sanchez played the entire 90 minutes in our 2-1 win over Leicester City but came on as a substitute against Spurs.
The Chilean hasn’t been at his best since making the move to Manchester United from Arsenal last season. A slight injury just a week into the campaign also ensured he did not play in our loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Sanchez is one of the most important players in the side.
The former Gunners star is a match winner but needs to find his feet this season. This is a story for most of the United players as they have all struggled to perform.
However, with Sanchez staying during the international break, it should provide Mourinho with more time to work with the Chilean and possibly extract the best out of him for the remaining campaign.
