Luke Shaw will not sign a new Manchester United deal in a hurry, according to the Mirror.
The English left-back has been one of the few bright spots for United this season and even earned a place in the England side for the upcoming matches against Spain and Switzerland.
The report adds that Shaw is out of contract in 2019 but he won’t sign a new deal until he is certain about being United’s first choice left-back.
The Englishman, who was purchased for a fee in the region of £27million, played second-fiddle to Ashley Young last season. However, Shaw has started this season as our No.1, due to Young’s participation in the World Cup, as per the report.
The Mirror adds that Jose Mourinho has been critical of Shaw in the past but the manager seemed to appreciate the left-back’s performance against Tottenham.
United have started the season with two losses from three games and we are already six points behind the Premier League leaders.
Shaw has done pretty well this season, scoring a goal in our 2-1 win over Leicester City on opening day. The Englishman has had a tough time with injuries at United but there is no doubting his ability.
Shaw was excellent during his time at Southampton and if we can get him to that level again, he could be one of the best in the world.
United should play the waiting game to see how Shaw performs for a period of time, before making a decision on his future.
