Woodward refused to sanction the purchase of a centre-back in the summer and the report adds Mourinho is still upset with the United executive vice-chairman.
The report adds that Mourinho signed a contract extension last January but Woodward’s insistence on not signing a new defender has raised issues between the pair.
Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire were linked with moves to United but Woodward was unwilling to pay huge transfer fees, as per the report.
The report adds that Mourinho had identified Ivan Perisic as a target in the summer but Woodward was unable to sign the World Cup runner-up.
United were active in the transfer window but we only bought three players. United have struggled at the back this season and our problems were laid bare in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof struggled in defence and our attack didn’t click either. Mourinho could have turned things around at United with a few more players but he will have to stick with the current squad until January.
