Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has taken to social media to give our fans hope following the disappointing 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

Sanchez, 29, played the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Leicester City but missed the game at Brighton with what manager Jose Mourinho described as a ‘little problem’.

“Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player,” Mourinho was quoted by the Manchester Evening News ahead of the Brighton game.

“I don’t know about [Sanchez’s return date], let’s wait for results but I don’t think it’s a big thing, one week, two weeks max.”

Mourinho suggested that Sanchez, who suffered the injury in training last Friday, would be out for ‘one to two weeks’ but the Chilean has posted a positive update on his fitness.

Through a story on his Instagram, Sanchez posted a picture of himself in the gym, donning United’s training gear and saluting with the caption – ‘Training to be back soon, Come on United’.

Sanchez is battling to be fit for the tantalising Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night at Old Trafford, where a defeat would leave us six points adrift of the north Londoners.

This is a defining season for Sanchez, who managed just three goals last season after joining from Arsenal in January. Let’s hope the Chilean attains full fitness ahead of the Tottenham game and sparks our team into life with all three points on Monday.
