Manchester United want to replace Jose Mourinho with Zinedine Zidane should the current manager leave the side, according to the Sun.

The Frenchman has been out of a job since leaving Real Madrid a few days after picking up a third straight Champions League crown.

The report claims that United officials would try to sign Zidane should Mourinho quit the club. The Portuguese manager has not been in the best of moods and has had a pop at the management regarding the lack of signings at Old Trafford this season.

Zidane has won nearly everything there is in club football during his three-year spell with Real Madrid. The French World Cup winner would also come in for free given that he is not contracted with any club.

Mourinho has brought in three players this summer but recently claimed that he would like two more. The club seem to be willing to sanction the signing of one more player and that has not gone down well with the manager.

Additionally, Mourinho has also had problems with the players at the club. There still is no clarity about Anthony Martial’s future at Old Trafford.

There probably is no manager with a stock as high as that of Zidane’s. The French manager did extremely well with Real but managing in the Premier League is a completely different test.
