And it looks like our summer signing will wear the number 20 shirt. An image of Dalot wearing his new number 20 shirt was posted on Instagram by his United teammate Joel Pereira. The picture shows the 19-year-old showing off the new United home kit with his name and number printed on the back.
Pereira posted Dalot’s image on his Instagram account with the caption: ‘Soon on the pitch. Baller.’
Interestingly, the number did belong to goalkeeper Sergio Romero, meaning the Argentina international is set to have a brand new number of his own in the 2018/19 campaign. However, Romero has been spotted wearing the number 22 on his training kit during the club’s US tour.
Dalot, a young and dynamic full-back, has been signed as an eventual successor of Antonio Valencia. However, we have to wait a while to see Dalot in his No.20 shirt.
That’s after our boss Jose Mourinho said before United’s opening pre-season match against Club America that Dalot would be unavailable for the start of the season due to injury and that he was expecting the defender to be “ready for September”.
Let’s hope Dalot settles down quickly at Old Trafford and starts challenging Valencia for the right-back spot.
