Lazio midfield ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic tops the Serie A wish list for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho this summer, report Corriere dello Sport (h/t the Daily Mirror).

The report adds that Mourinho is also concerned about his defence and would like AC Milan duo Alessio Romagnoli and Leonardo Bonucci in his ranks this season.

Such a double swoop would appear really bold but with Milan’s financial situation very bleak, the Red Devils could take advantage.

There are no second thoughts on our fragile backline needing strengthening this summer, with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones ending last season as first-choice centre-backs. Victor Lindelof arrived amidst a lot of fanfare but failed to live up to the billing as he blew hot and cold in his debut season at Old Trafford.

With Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo prone to injuries, Mourinho should at least get one central defender. In my opinion, Alessio Romagnoli would fit Mourinho’s style of play at United. The Italian is young, and enjoyed a fantastic season with Milan, although the club finished sixth in Serie A.

Romagnoli has just signed a contract extension until 2022 at San Siro, which means it would take a lot of money for our club to lure him away to Old Trafford ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. If Mourinho lands Romagnoli this summer, it would be a massive signing.

As far as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is concerned, II Messaggero (h/t the Daily Mirror) claims United have held talks with Lazio over their star midfielder, whose price tag could top £100m.

In my opinion, our club doesn’t need any further reinforcements in midfield following the arrival of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk and Marouane Fellaini’s contract extension. The Red Devils only need a quality centre-half, which should be enough to make us genuine title challengers this season.
