Manchester United announced a new deal for Marouane Fellaini which keeps the Belgian midfielder at Old Trafford until 2020.
The club also have the option to increase the deal for another year and this has finally put to bed the claims of the former Everton man leaving us for free before the start of the season.
Fellaini, who is 30, was excited with the deal and was quoted by the club as saying:
“I am pleased to be continuing my journey as a Manchester United player. I made this decision because I am very happy here. Also, I feel like this team, under Jose, still has a lot we want to achieve.”
Mourinho too was happy with the deal as the manager stated that he always believed the Belgian would stay at the club.
While Fellaini has always divided opinion about what he brings to the United team and whether he is a good fit or not, keeping him in the side for a few more years did create a stir on Twitter.
A number of fans voiced their opinion on the deal and here are some of the best tweets related to Fellaini staying at the club.
Fellaini staying or going doesn’t make a huge difference, but the way he used the club for a new contract is what pisses the whole fanbase off. He’s not a player like De Gea or Pogba, someone who is a huge asset to the club. #MUFC

Think you all need to get over Fellaini now. Had a few drinks and a bit of sun today and he’s bloody Zidane to me now. Vamos!

Fellaini is staying. Move on with your lives now, it’s done. At least when he does play he gives it everything he has.

My day just took a Strange turn and I feel like it’s April fools day but it can’t be it’s June. Fellaini just signed a new contract quoted “ I have decided to stay” he shouldn’t even be in a position to be making that decision. Jheeze #mufc
