Manchester United are ready to battle with a couple of European giants as they look to sign Kylian Mbappe, as Paris Saint-Germain could face sanctions after signing Neymar for £198m last season.
The Mirror reports that we would be going up against Manchester City and Real Madrid for the French sensation, who is a part of the French World Cup squad in Russia.
Mbappe spent last season on loan at PSG as they looked to finalise a deal worth £166million with Monaco to bring the 19-year-old to Paris but with the financial fair play rules being looked into, we are monitoring the situation and could even throw a player into the deal for Mbappe.
Anthony Martial’s agent had spoken about the player wanting to leave United recently and he is the player who’s said to be included into the deal. We value Martial at £80m and would then have to stump up a further £86m to finalise the deal with Monaco for Mbappe if PSG don’t go ahead with their deal.
Mbappe is one of the best players in the world at the moment and his stock will rise if France have a great world cup. It would be a great swap if we can bring in Mbappe for a player who is not happy at the moment and for all we know, the younger Frenchman could become the player that we expected Martial to become.
Martial certainly struggled under Jose Mourinho last season and it will be interesting to see if another Frenchman is willing to take the plunge at United.
Spending £86m should not be a problem for us financially and Mbappe becoming a Red is something the club should try to push for this season.
