Zinedine Zidane quit as Real Madrid manager over difference regarding a couple of summer acquisitions, according to The Sun.
The report claims that the Frenchman spoke to club president Florentino Perez the night before he submitted his shock resignation and the pair quarrelled over Eden Hazard and David de Gea.
Zidane wanted to bring Hazard to Madrid this season but when he suggested the transfer to Perez, the president ended up saying no.
The other issue was with De Gea. Real Madrid have been admirers of the United keeper for a while and when Perez stated that he wanted to bring the Spaniard to Madrid, Zidane was not in agreement.
The then Madrid manager insisted that he was happy with Keylor Navas in the side and that led to a lot of back and forth with claims that Zidane told Perez: “I am done. You take care of the team.”
This will come as a mixed blessing to United fans as we did dodge a bullet with Zidane not wanting De Gea but Perez might now try to sign the 27-year-old.
The Spaniard had a fantastic season for us as he won the Golden Glove and it goes without saying that he is one of the best keepers in the world, if not the best.
Perez has seen the signing of a number of Galactico players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Gareth Bale and we all remember the transfer machine system incident where Madrid failed to sign the keeper because of the late submission of the papers.
Hopefully, we can keep De Gea as he is an integral part of the United set up and it will be extremely tough to replace the star keeper if he leaves.
