Former Manchester United player and current Wales manager Ryan Giggs has stated that spirit the club had during his playing days was something special and believes that it might lead to success.
United under Jose Mourinho have been a hit and miss as the manager did lead us to the Europa League title a couple of seasons ago but struggled to catch Manchester City this time around.teams.
We also were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Sevilla and were undone in the final of the FA Cup by Chelsea.
Giggs, who is one of the most decorated players in football history, was speaking to ESPN (h/t The Mirror) as he also added about the relationship that was built with the players coming through the academy.
“I think it always helps when you have the nucleus of players who know what the club is about or have been through the youth team.
“If you can get that then it is something very special. It doesn’t happen very often, for that reason it is very rare.
“There was a really tight-knit group, not only the one’s who had known each other for a really long time but we had Roy Keane, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who were a similar age and we had a really good team spirit.
Giggs also spoke about the fact that he wants to see exciting football at United and hand-picked a few players that could do the job in the coming years.
The Welsh legend does have a point and hopefully, with a couple of quality signings, we might just be able to play quality attacking football that can lead us to silverware.
