Manchester United target Fred is still unsure about his future club despite reports of him being set up for a medical at the club, according to reports.
The Brazilian midfielder was in England as the national side faced Croatia in a pre-World Cup friendly and the Samba Boys won the game 2-0.
The Metro reports that the 25-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk star has been given permission to remain in Manchester on Monday to finalise his £52m move to Old Trafford while his Brazil teammates travel to London to continue their preparations for the World Cup.
The 25-year-old, however, added that he only wants to focus on the national side and will speak to his agents about his future away from his current club.
The Brazilian was speaking to Globo (h/t The Metro) and also claimed that he has to “forget things from outside”:
“I’m going to talk to the people, meet my friends. I still do not know where I’m going. I’ll still talk to my agents to find out the reality of it.
“I want to focus only on the national team. It’s a unique time, the World Cup. We have to try to forget things from outside.”
Fred started his senior career with Internacional prior to which he developed his game at Atletico Mineiro and Porto Alegre.
The 25-year-old has been one of the most successful players in the Ukrainian league after picking up three league titles, three cups and four super cups since making his move to the country in 2013.
The midfielder is known for his defensive abilities and would be a decent signing to have as we look to add more talent to the heart of the park.
Michael Carrick’s void will be tough to fill and with the future of Marouane Fellaini still in doubt, it makes sense to bring players in early and prepare for a tough season ahead.
Jose Mourinho has a lot of work to do if we are to catch Manchester City and challenge for the title and hopefully, the signing of Fred is a step in the right direction.
