Matteo Darmian is expected to complete his medical and finalise a deal to join Italian giants Juventus according to Italian TV station SportItalia (h/t The Express). The deal is worth £10.5m.
The 28-year-old only made five starts in the Premier League, two starts in the Champions League and has struggled for first-team starts at the Theatre of Dreams.
The report also claims that the Italian right-back was spotted in Milan on Thursday to complete negotiations with the Italian champions as the defender looks to resurrect his career in the Serie A.
The sale of the 28-year-old could start a lot of activity for the Red Devils as we also look to complete a number of deals to become stronger next season.
Diogo Dalot is one of the players being heavily linked with United and will probably compete with Antonio Valencia for the right-back slot, something that Darmian could not do during his three-year spell at the club.
Darmian could have been a decent squad player for us had he performed to the best of his abilities. However, things were not meant to be for the Italian.
The defender joined United after a five-year spell with Torino and many expected him to get better after he picked up the Player of the month award in August 2015.
Hopefully, the Italian will be able to achieve more when he shifts back to his country of birth and in all probability, he will be playing a lot more games for Juventus as the Italian league is not as rough and tumble as the Premier League.
The Italian had played for Milan, Padova, Palermo and Torino before joining us and even played for the national side in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2016.
