Manchester United may have secured the runners-up spot in this edition of the Premier League but it is evident that we are in need of a massive overhaul this summer. There are several areas that require strengthening and if a report from The Metro is to be believed, Jose Mourinho is planning to raise funds in the region of £150m.
Now, one might be wondering where Mourinho would even get that money from but the report claims that our gaffer is planning to offload 3 players to raise the required amount.
The likes of Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw have hardly featured for the club this season and even when they were a part of the XI, the players failed to do much. However, they are all young and will not face any shortage of potential suitors.
In doing so, United will have a solid ground to land Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, the Metro claims. The Lazio midfielder is estimated to cost around £80m and if Mourinho does make a move for him, it would still leave the Portuguese tactician with a good amount of cash to reinforce other areas.
Losing players like Blind, Darmian and Shaw will certainly deplete our forces at the back but it is better to have players who can genuinely add value to the side. Lately, neither of these three has been able to do that. Thus, it will be a much-needed move for United going into the new season.
