Long-term Manchester United target Gareth Bale will only join the Devils if Zinedine Zidane stays at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.
As the Daily Mirror claims, Bale’s teammates are of the belief that the Welshman has decided to return to the Premier League if Zidane remains as the boss of the defending Champions League winners. As things stand for Bale personally, he does not really want to leave Spain but his hard relationship with his manager is making his stay difficult.
The aforementioned source claims that we came close to completing a deal for Bale last year but the transfer failed to go through for some reasons.
Having said that, United are expected to reignite their interest over the summer but their desires won’t come cheap. As the reports claim, it would take United as much as £90m-plus in order to bring Bale to Old Trafford. Besides that, they would also have to make him the highest paid player at the club. Yes, actually more than Alexis Sanchez!
While United have been the long-term chasers, a potential interest from Antonio Conte’s Chelse has also been reported.
But as mentioned earlier, Bale’s departure would only happen if Zidane stays. The Frenchman is under massive pressure this season mainly because his team has failed to mount a challenge in La Liga. However, being a club legend, there are high chances that winning the Champions League might save his job.
Meanwhile, as far as Zidane’s relationship with Bale is concerned, he is disappointed with the Welshman’s performance this season. Bale has failed to stay fit for the majority of the first half of the season and even after being fit, he has failed to deliver as expected.
Following all this, there are claims that Bale, who became Wales’ top scorer recently, has distanced himself from the rest of his squad and this could well turn out to be the final roll of the dice.
