According to Diario Gol (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is targeting three Real Madrid players in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are expected to undergo a major overhaul in the summer according to the report.

Manchester City have been a class act this season and within a couple of weeks, are expected to bag the Premier League title. United, on the other hand, have been decent overall this campaign but despite being second in the league standings, they trail neighbours and league leaders City by a whopping 16 points with eight games to play.

Mourinho is not interested in finishing second-best behind Pep Guardiola’s City again, with the report claiming that a number of players are expected to exit Old Trafford in the summer. The United boss has requested the board to allocate him funds in the summer transfer window to go further in the title race next season.

However, as per Spanish news outlet Diario Gol, Mourinho is ready to raid his former club Real Madrid for three of their best players in order to rebuild the United squad. The Diario Gol claim that the Portuguese has already identified the likes of Isco, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane as his top summer targets.

Despite signing the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof since taking up the United job in 2016, Mourinho remains keen to strengthen his defence and Diario Gol suggests that the Portuguese manager craves for Varane, who is regarded as one of the finest centre-backs in Europe.

The report adds that Mourinho remains interested in signing Isco and Modric – the duo would provide width and creativity, something which the current United team has lacked on a number of occasions this season.

With the Daily Star claiming that the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick are all expected to leave in the summer, Mourinho is eyeing big names to fill the void ahead of 2018/19 season.
