According to the Daily Star, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is eyeing a summer transfer swoop for Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey. The report states that Mourinho is a big fan of the Welsh midfielder, who has just a year left on his Arsenal contract.
Paul Pogba has endured a dismal couple of months at Manchester United which has seen him lose his place to youngster Scott McTominay. The Frenchman has failed to justify his place and with January big-money signing Alexis Sanchez yet to settle at Old Trafford, the United boss is set to make some big decisions and changes in the summer, as per the Daily Star.
The report claims that Mourinho is eyeing an all-round, box-to-box kind of midfielder and sees Ramsey as the perfect fit at Old Trafford.
Ramsey, who last week revealed that his contract extension is not an Arsenal priority, is also being tracked by Chelsea, according to the report.
The Welsh international joined the Gunners in 2008 from Cardiff City. But after being in and out of Arsene Wenger’s side, Ramsey is considering whether it is the right time to seal a move away from the Emirates.
If Ramsey does stall on penning a new contract, Arsenal may be forced to sell him this summer. The Welsh midfielder’s arrival in the summer would threaten Pogba’s position at Old Trafford and that would leave the Frenchman with a decision to make in the summer.
