Manchester United to swap Matteo Darmian for £70m Brazilian superstar in massive summer deal

Matteo Darmian of Manchester United

Manchester United are likely to make a drastic attempt at strengthening their squad during the summer in order to launch a challenge for the Premier League title next season.

While we are in second place in the league standings this season and are expected to finish off as the runners-up, we have not seriously threatened the runaway leaders Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho is set to prioritize signing new midfielders and defenders during the summer and according to The Mirror, we will attempt to sign Alex Sandro, who is being valued at approximately £70million.

Sandro currently earns £145,000-a-week and his salary will be almost doubled if he agrees to join United.

In order to lower the price, however, Mourinho is prepared to offer defender Mateo Darmian to the Italian giants.

Darmian does not look like he has a future at Old Trafford and after making only 13 appearances in all competitions this season, it does seem likely for Mourinho to willingly part ways with the Italian.

Luke Shaw

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Luke Shaw could have a future at United.  The 22-year-old started the season quite slowly and it was widely speculated that he might not continue at Old Trafford beyond the end of this campaign.

However, he has shown massive improvement since the start of 2018 and has gone on to make 18 appearances in all competitions so far.

On the other hand, Ashley Young’s future at United seems to be the subject of speculation. At 32 years of age, Young’s best days are past him even though he has been in decent form this season. However, it remains to be seen if United will offer him a new and improved deal at this age.

After winning against Liverpool on Saturday, we claimed a morale boost and are now five points ahead of our traditional arch-rivals and remain in the second place in the League standings.
