Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic has handed Manchester United a major boost by revealing he supported them as a youngster. The 19-year-old has been earning rave reviews for his performances for Borussia Dortmund and his fine form has seen him get linked with some of Europe’s elites, including Manchester United and Liverpool. He has a £88m price tag.
The USA international has scored 3 goals and made 2 assists in 19 appearances so far for the Bundesliga outfit this campaign. He has already racked up 20 caps for his country at the age of just 19 and is quickly becoming USA’s most important player.
Pulisic, who is enjoying a fine season in the Bundesliga, has not refused to rule out a move to the Premier League. Should the teenager decide to leave Dortmund, United would certainly be an option after he admitted he was a supporter of the Old Trafford club in his youth days.
“Yeah, I was. I was definitely a big fan,” Pulisic told ESPN.
“Of course, right now I am under contract with Dortmund and I’m not looking around or doing anything like that so I’m very focused there. But, yeah, it’s cool to hear all this stuff!
“Of course, the Premier League is an unbelievable league. You never know in football what can happen, so right now, I’m focused with Dortmund, and yeah, that’s that.”
There is no doubting Pulisic is one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. That’s the reason why some of Europe’s heavyweights are monitoring his progress at Dortmund.
As far as United are concerned, the 19-year-old would be a fantastic signing for the club. He is quick, agile, creative and at such a young age, boasts of tremendous tenacity. He would certainly make Jose Mourinho’s side sleeker and fluid in the attack.
But currently, the club already have the likes of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata in the attack department. The club is heavily stacked in terms of attackers and that would leave Pulisic amidst heavy competition should he move to Manchester United.
The USA international would get hardly any time on the field, with Martial and Rashford touted as the future stars at Old Trafford.
So for now, Pulisic should continue his development at Dortmund and not think of anything else.
