Manchester United offered Cristiano Ronaldo as a part of a swap deal – Spanish reports

Fernandes has named Ronaldo in his five-a-side dream team

Real Madrid’s chase of David de Gea will come to life in the summer according to reports from Spain. The Spanish keeper has been a target for the La Liga giants for a long, long time and now they want to include Cristiano Ronaldo as a part of the deal.

El Confidencial (h/t Manchester Evening News) claims that super agent Jorge Mendes wants a swap deal, which would see Ronaldo and De Gea switch clubs. The agent represents both players and believes that the move would be ideal for both candidates.

Ronaldo has been unhappy at Madrid of late and has been looking for a move away from the Spanish capital, with us being one of the clubs linked.

Real have been poor this season and are all but sure to end up losing the La Liga title to Barcelona. Los Galacticos were also dumped out of the Copa del Rey recently and their only real chance of winning a title is picking up the Champions League.

Florentino Perez has been in the news recently as he looks to revamp the Madrid side and it would not be a surprise if he does come for De Gea in the summer, once again.

No Sale From United

The report also suggests that Jose Mourinho will not be accepting this deal as he believes De Gea is worth a lot more than just a swap deal with Ronaldo.

There is some logic behind Mourinho’s decision. De Gea is worth more than a Ronaldo who is ageing, though the former United man still does have a lot left in the tank, which could come in handy for us should we agree to sign him.

Truth be told, these rumours will be coming up thick and fast in the next few months as Real keep on struggling and are not playing to their potential. This is what most Spanish outlets do, as we have seen a number of times.

With us playing good football and since we have a wonderful chance of winning some silverware, it will take something miraculous for us to let go of De Gea and Madrid would know that as well.
