The Premier League is back and Manchester United, this time around, will take on a struggling Southampton unit tomorrow at Old Trafford with a hope of getting a win after going three matches without one.
After a brilliant start to the new season under Mourinho, the players have shown a major dip in form and it all started after that stalemate against Liverpool at Anfield on October 14. This was followed by a defeat against Huddersfield and despite acquiring two positive results, the players lost to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in November.
Then a defeat against Manchester City at Old Trafford followed and the current scenario is that Citizens are topping the Premier League table with a whopping 15-point lead. The task of catching our arch nemesis seems like a job of an impeccable standard and it is safe to assume that the winner of the season is already confirmed. Meanwhile, two back to back draws means the deficit between us and the third-placed Chelsea is down to just one point, hence, United cannot really afford to drop points from this stage.

As things stand right now, the players are back in training and there still aren’t any signs of midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who has hardly featured for United after the international break due to a knee injury. Furthermore, Eric Bailly is still out for ‘several months after undergoing surgery on an injury he suffered with Ivory Coast.’
However, the positives remain, as both Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial, who missed the Burnley fixture due to their respective injuries, are back in training. It remains to be seen whether the duo will be a part of the squad or not.
Right-back Antonio Valencia was nowhere to be seen in the training either, hence it is safe to assume that the Ecuadorian will miss the Southampton game. An important fixture this and here you can enjoy some pictures from the training:
