Manchester United Might Have Just Received The Biggest Boost Yet To Sign Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months. This news got a major boost when, over the weekend, well-known social media personality Poet dropped a huge hint that the move could be on.

According to Poet, there are indications from some insiders working at Adidas that Ozil’s move to Manchester United is a foregone conclusion. There could be some truth in that, provided the source is reliable, as Adidas are our sponsors.

Ozil had a great weekend at the Emirates Stadium as he scored a screamer against Newcastle United to earn Arsenal a 1-0 win. It was a much-needed three points for the Gunners, but they owe it all to Ozil.

How long will he be there at Arsenal? Not so long! Ozil is out of contract with Arsenal next summer and the world cup winner with Germany has already rejected all advances from manager Arsene Wenger to have his stay extended.

There are indications that Arsenal may sell Ozil in the winter transfer window rather than risk losing him for free next summer. However, Wenger has so far maintained publicly that he would rather let Ozil leave on a free transfer than sell him in January to a top-4 rival!

Ozil’s working relationship with our manager Jose Mourinho in their earlier stint with Real Madrid fuelled these rumours. But, will Wenger and Arsenal wish to sell him abroad just to make sure he doesn’t play for United?

That could be a possibility but as some of the other reports doing rounds indicate, Mourinho could be swayed by his relationship with Wenger in going for Ozil’s signature. The Portuguese tactician even admitted publicly that he can’t refuse a move for the German playmaker and that he wants everyone to respect Ozil’s situation.

Another indicator that Mourinho may go for Ozil is the declining performances of Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The United playmaker has been publicly derided by the manager who now looks all but certain to leave this transfer window, if not in the summer.

Does this mean we could go for Ozil? Will he strengthen our squad? I have my doubts about him, but what about you?
