A brace from an utter unlikely source coupled with a fantastic goal from Anthony Martial followed by a mesmerising solo goal from Jesse Lingard gave Manchester United an important away win against a stern Watford unit.
It all started in as early as the 19th minute when Ashley Young’s venomous strike from the edge of the edge of the area gave United the lead. Young, who started his career at Watford, doubled United’s advantage just six minutes after the first, with a tremendous 25-yard free-kick. The free-kick was so precise that Jose Mourinho was left red-faced. Don’t believe us? You can have a look!

Just a couple of minutes after Young’s brace, Anthony Martial made it three for the visitors with what can be described as a calm finish from 18 yards out. United were cruising, but again, Marco Silva is never the one who can be taken for granted. The Hornets responded firmly in the latter part of the second half after Marcos Rojo fouled second-half substitute, Roberto Pereyra into the area. Troy Deeney made no mistake in drawing his side back into the game. Seven minutes after Watford’s first, a precise finish from midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure gave United a firm headache.
As the game approached it’s final five minutes, Watford were breathing heavily on the back of Manchester United, but a brilliant counter-attack and a brilliant solo run from Jesse Lingard injected the final nail in Watford’s coffin. United restored their two-goal advantage and the Hornets were left wondering what went wrong. The scoreline should have stated differently (as is the case in all of Manchester United’s games) had Lukaku been a bit more prolific in front of goal. The Belgian missed the simplest of chances and with that being done, his struggles continued.
“The second half should have been five or six-nil, it was easier to score than the first. We missed chances,” Mourinho was quoted by BBC.
“Out of nothing, they got a penalty for 3-1, then it was a different game. It was an easy match to win comfortably. At 3-2 the game is in the balance then Lingard had the initiative to kill the game.”

Good. But it should have been all over before Watford scored. R. Lukaku is suffering in confidence. He should have scored a goal today. Pat.

Great goals by Utd, pity Watford got a soft penalty as Rojo clearly won the ball. Still never mind we won and got the three pts. Bet Soton will roll over for shitty citeh at the emptihad.
