Predicted Manchester United Line-up To Face Watford In The Premier League
Manchester United will look to continue their winning ways, when they face off against Marco Silva’s Watford FC, at the Vicarage Road, on Tuesday night.
United come into the game on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend at the Old Trafford. Manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping that his side put on a much better showing against the Hornets and keep pace with the Premier League leaders, Manchester City.
Team News
Midfielder Michael Carrick will not be available for selection following his recent heart procedure, whereas defenders Eric Bailly and Phil Jones remain sidelined with groin and thigh problems respectively.
Here’s how the Red Devils might take the field at the Vicarage Road:
Manager: Jose Mourinho
Formation: 4-2-3-1
David De Gea (GK)
An automatic choice between the sticks, the Spaniard will be looking to keep a second clean sheet in three days.
Antonio Valencia (RB)
The Ecuadorian did not have the best of the days against Brighton this past weekend and will want to put up an improved display.
Victor Lindelof (CB)
Put in one of his best displays in a United shirt in the previous game and will look to build on it with another strong performance.
Chris Smalling (CB)
Has been a constant presence in the backline given the number of injuries at the back for United. Unlikely to change.
Ashley Young (LB)
Has emerged as the first-choice left-back for the Red Devils owing to some very strong showings in recent games. Should keep his spot in the line-up.
Paul Pogba (CM)
Has had a major influence on the proceedings since his return from injury and is without an iota of a doubt, a definite starter in the middle of the park.
Nemanja Matic (CM)
Alongside the Frenchman, summer signing Nemanja Matic should assume his duties as the anchorman in the midfield for United.
Juan Mata (RW)
The Spaniard should keep his place in the starting XI on the right-hand side of the attack, ahead of Jesse Lingard.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan (CAM)
Having shown a few signs of positivity in his substitute appearance against Brighton, the Armenian could be back in contention for a starting berth in the midweek.
Marcus Rashford (LW)
Hasn’t been able to have a great impact in the last couple of games, but could pose a serious threat to an often-leaky Watford defence.
Romelu Lukaku (ST)
Leading the line for Mourinho’s men at the Vicarage Road should be star striker Romelu Lukaku. Has gone without a goal in the last two games in all competitions and will be keen on getting back to scoring ways.
