Manchester United are reportedly to be interested in signing teenage Polish goalkeeper Mikolaj Bieganski. According to ESPN, the Red Devils are ready to usurp Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of the highly-rated youngster.
The 15-year-old Skra Czestochowa ace is very highly rated in his native Poland, with scouts from various top clubs in Europe being a regular phenomenon, watching him all through the season.
The teenager is already training with the first team and has been earning rave reviews after playing for Poland’s Under 16 side last summer. It is now being reported that the two Premier League clubs – Manchester United and Tottenham – are ready to fight for his capture.
Interestingly, Bieganski has spent time at both the Premier League sides over the last one year. That prompted both the sides to express their interest in signing the youngster, according to ESPN.
It is also being reported that Czestochowa will not stand in Bieganski’s way, provided a suitable offer is made for his services once he reaches the age of 16, when he can sign his first professional contract. Going by the signs, in all probability, it could come from one of the English sides.
But, if he does come to Old Trafford, where does Bieganski fit in the scheme of things? Manager Jose Mourinho is blessed to have adequate cover for the goalkeeping position in his squad.
David de Gea is the undisputed number one at Old Trafford while Sergio Romero is a more-than-capable second choice with Cup tournaments being his only chance of participation.
Going a little further in the reserves, we have Joel Pereira who is rated very highly within the club. The hierarchy hopes that Pereira would soon eclipse everyone and be a challenger to De Gea’s first-team spot.
Then there is Dean Henderson in the reserves, although the 20-year-old is ready to move out of Old Trafford in search of regular football. So, will Biegansky be able to integrate quickly with the Academy and grow into a first-team player? Time will tell, but the priority, for now, lies elsewhere!
