Manchester United fear that their star midfielder Paul Pogba could be out of action for more time than initially feared. Latest reports from The Times indicate that the Red Devils fear they could be without the French midfielder for up to three months.
The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury last week during the Champions League group stage encounter against Basel. He was substituted early in the first half with initial reports indicating a grade three tear with potential tendon damage.
Further medical assessment is yet to come but Old Trafford specialists fear that the superstar could be out for as many as 12 weeks of rehabilitation. That could be a huge blow for Jose Mourinho.
After a difficult first season at Old Trafford last year, Pogba looked all set to live up to his potential by starting this season on a high.
Be it the arrival of close friend Romelu Lukaku to lead the line or the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea that seems to have liberated him to play a more attacking role, Pogba seems to have found the right ingredient to display his potential.
The first four Premier League matches of this season have seen him notch up two goals and two assists, with fans hoping to see their star player lead them back to Premier League title.
Mourinho did not confirm or deny the reports ahead of the match against Everton by claiming that he was yet to hear back on the full extent of the injury.
But, if this news about his 12-week rehabilitation is accurate, then the player could miss some very important clashes. Our trips to Liverpool (slated for October 14th), Chelsea (November 5th) and Arsenal (December 2nd) could be the key matches that he may miss.
There is also the possibility that Pogba could miss the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on December 9th along with the remaining 5 Champions League group matches.
Pogba’s absence didn’t seem to impact our performance against Everton as we easily won 4-0. However, Pogba is too good a player to be missed and I only hope his absence isn’t as long as predicted.
