Manchester United are planning to make a double swoop for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has a perfect technique of how to raise the capital for these two captures.

Antoine Griezmann has long been linked with Manchester United and had it not been for Atletico’s transfer ban, it is fair to say that the Frenchman would have been donning the United kit right at this very moment. Bale, on the other hand, has been a Manchester United target since his Tottenham days but the Welshman moved to Real Madrid.

Manchester Evening News reports that Ed Woodward already has a transfer blueprint for next summer and it includes buying two of the most fearsome attacking prospects, Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale. And to sanction the arrivals, M.E.N reports that Woodward will majorly be relying on United’s shirt sale.

Practically, this is the same way Woodward justified Paul Pogba’s £89million price tag. In a year’s time, Pogba’s shirt sale has surpassed the likes of Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Not just this, a whopping nine Manchester United players were included in the list which quoted the top 30 most popular replica shirts sold since May 1. Even Memphis Depay, soon after his move to United from PSV back in 2015, became the third highest shirt seller behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Bastian Schweinsteiger, too, rose from 31st to 4th after completing his move to United.

And right in the current scenario, with Pogba topping the charts, it is Romelu Lukaku who stands second in the list.

Having a humongous fan base all around the world, it is quite rightly expected that our commercial power will come in handy while approaching Atletico and Real for their respective players. United, however, won’t find acquiring their signature smooth as Atletico and Real will demand heavily for the two players.

It now remains to be seen whether this much of capital will literally be splashed out or not since there might occur an issue or two due to the Financial Fair Play.
