Club Owner Has Traveled To England To Complete Deal With Manchester United For Highly-rated Midfielder

Spanish La Liga side Valencia are looking to sign Manchester United youngster Andrea Pereira on a season-long loan deal according to the Spanish newspaper Super Deporte.

The links were reported because of Valencia owner Peter Lim traveling to England on transfer business. Although Lim has non-football interests in the land, the papers were quick to link his visit to his interest of snapping up Pereira.

The Belgium-born Brazilian has long been earmarked as a potential superstar by the Old Trafford chiefs. After a brilliant pre-season this year, it was expected that he would feature more prominently under Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

But, he has not even made the bench in either of the Red Devils’ two wins so far, casting doubts if he will get first-team chances at the club this season. Mourinho has indicated his wish to the player that he would like him to remain with the first-team squad this season as he sees a greater need for rotation of the squad this season once the fixtures get congested and cup competitions kick-in.

However, unless there are serious injuries or loss of form, it is expected that the 21-year-old’s game-time would be limited in the Premier League and could solely be in the cup competitions.

Valencia are keen on landing the youngster who impressed on loan last year in La Liga with Granada. His versatility is a huge bonus for the gaffer as Pereira can play either on the wing, as a number 10, in the central midfield or in front of the back four.

Another advantage is that the player counts as a homegrown player and is young enough to play without being named in the 25-man Premier League and Champions League squads.

Reports indicate that the player is close to a loan deal but Mourinho could put up a strong case for Pereira to stay. It could come down entirely to the player to decide if he wants to leave the club on loan. It’s not going to be easy for Pereira either, because he has to choose between more game-time and potential learning experience under Mourinho.

What do you think? Should Pereira leave on loan or stay back?
