It was only last weekend that Gareth Bale was hugging Jose Mourinho sent transfer market into an overdrive. Of course, it was all in good humour but what is doing the rounds now is much more serious. Bale to United is now a very hot topic. According to the Telegraph, Man United have been given hope in their pursuit of Gareth Bale.
Real Madrid’s chase of AS Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe has astonished the world – of the humongous amounts that are being mentioned. For the United fans though, the interest comes in the consequences of this pursuit. Mbappe’s arrival will mean lesser game time or even exit door for one of their established stars.
That much has been spelled by Real’s manager Zinedine Zidane who agreed that it would be difficult for him to guarantee everyone’s presence at the Bernabeu this summer.
“I hope everyone remains. I want everyone who is here now to stay, but anything can happen right up until August 31.”
Reason? Mbappe’s arrival in a potential £161million deal will throw question marks on the game time for at least one of his BBC trio – Bale, Benzema, and Cristiano. We all know that Bale and Benzema are the expendables in that list.
We got an inkling of that last season when Bale struggled to get back into the side post injury. His place was usurped by Isco who slowly became Zidane’s favorite.
From a commercial point of view too, Real need to raise more capital to help fund the move. Benzema may be expendable but he won’t command the same price as Bale does – which is why the 28-year-old Welsh star is the talk of the transfer window.
Manchester United are long-term admirers of Bale and have held an interest in getting him back to the Premier League. Both the club and the player maintained that they are happy with status quo – which could change now.
What Can Bale Bring To Our Side?
A lot, in short! He has the experience of the Premier League and wouldn’t need bedding period. Bale’s pace and runs on the wings together with Pogba in the middle will make United dangerous when going forward.
Will This Work Out?
There are a lot of ‘ifs’ but one thing is for sure – Real are going hard after Mbappe. They are looking to get him to Bernabeu which means space needs to open. Most likely it would be Bale and as a fan, I hope there are no red tapes this time!
