Manchester United Could Sign £43m Midfielder As Manager Hints At ‘a possibility’ Of A Deal

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that there is a high possibility that Manchester United could sign Renato Sanches in this transfer window. That may not be on a permanent transfer but only on a loan deal as the club still rates the Portuguese very highly.

According to reports in The Independent, Ancelotti was categorical in dismissing reports of Arturo Vidal leaving the club to Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho this year, has earmarked Eric Dier of Tottenham Hotspur as his primary target. With Spurs playing hardball, the Red Devils are pushed to look at other options.

The teenage Portuguese midfielder who starred for his national team at the 2016 European Championships could not find a starting spot under Ancelotti. That prompted Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to announce that the club is okay to loaning the youngster.

AC Milan were considered the favourites for his signature but a valuation of £43million cooled the interest of the Serie A side. Mourinho remains a big fan of Sanches and feels that United missed out on signing him only because he joined Bayern before Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford.

Is This A Positive Sign Of Things To Come?

United have a better bargaining power this time than last year and start on a positive note. Bayern still view Sanches as a long-term replacement for Vidal and will not be open to selling him; at least not in this window.

The midfielder made just six starts for Ancelotti’s side last year and will look for greater exposure. It could be a win-win situation for both because Mourinho, as of now, is left frustrated with his pursuit of Dier. Tottenham’s hard hand may push us towards Sanches.

As they say, better late than never. Fans will welcome the brilliance of Sanches in the middle. He will increase the competition for places, which is exciting for all of us. What do you think?
