Jose Mourinho has publicly admitted that he is not satisfied with Manchester United’s transfer business this summer. While talking exclusively to ESPN, the former Chelsea boss highlighted United’s difficulties in dealing with the their reported targets and went on to explain how grinding it is to sign a new player in current scenario.

“We always want more,” he told ESPN. “We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window. What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window and I don’t blame anyone – it is just a reality of things. The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.

“Every club is powerful and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult. Everton started really strong in the market without the Lukaku money. AC Milan, without selling players, are buying non-stop, so it depends on the moment, the objective, maybe on new owners.”

Till date, Manchester United have acquired the likes of Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Romelu Lukaku from Everton, and it is indeed a fact that Jose Mourinho wants more. Initially, he highlighted the need of having Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and United’s board wasted no time in getting themselves into the negotiations but the Galacticos played the hardball and United eventually pulled themselves out of the speculation.

Besides, with Michael Carrick close to hanging up his cleats, Mourinho identified the need for defensive midfield role to get reinforced. Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Roma’s Radja Nainggolan were reported to be the targets, but Chelsea, just like Real Madrid, are reluctant on letting the Serb leave on the cheap. The latter, on the other hand, is yet to respond. Right at this very moment, the Red Devils are working their socks off to lure Tottenham’s Eric Dier, but given that Daniel Levy isn’t someone to trick, the deal seems pretty tough.

Furthermore, Ivan Persisic’s pursuit is known to everyone as well. Jose Mourinho rates the Croatian highly and excessive work-rate actually takes him in the ilk of the ‘Mourinho-type’ catagory, but then again, with the Italian outfit aware of United’s financial might, their asking price keeps on getting influent.

Having said that, it now remains to be seen how United fare in the remaining days of the market. All eyes on you Jose!
