Ivan Perisic to Manchester United has been the flavour of the summer so far but the transfer saga could reach a conclusion sooner than later if the reports are to be believed. (Independent)
The new Internazionale coach Luciano Spalletti is set to hold talks with the Croatian winger which could be a make or break. Inter Milan have maintained that they value Perisic as a key member of their outfit.
United manager Jose Mourinho has listed Persic as one of his key pursuits for the season and views his skills in the final third as a vital addition to his squad. It is rumoured that the winger has already agreed to personal terms with us and it is now left for both the clubs to agree on a fee. (Independent)
However, Spaletti, who only took charge at Inter at the end of last season, has already gone public with his desire to keep the experienced winger at the San Siro for next season.
The former AS Roma coach now wants to have showdown talks with him to discuss his plans for the side and possibly win back Perisic’s mind towards his side.
“I will speak to everyone and clearly for those who are ‘distracted’ there will be different words,” Spalletti was quoted as saying by Daily Express.
“I will listen to him, I have no doubts. I am counting on him, but we’ll have to understand his intentions.
Inter’s local rivals AC Milan have been the most active club in the transfer market having made prolific signings already. Part of Inter’s inability to signing the players has been because of their problems with Financial Fair Play (FFP).
United hoped to take advantage of this and squeeze a deal for Perisic. Inter resisted the temptation though and are now free of the restrictions having generated the required funds elsewhere. With pre-season not far away, Spalletti would be wanting to clear the air and tie the player down to the club.
The Red Devils have already acquired the services of Romelu Lukaku from Everton, after signing Victor Lindelof from Portuguese Champions Benfica.
Manchester United won three titles last year – including the less-significant Community Shield – apart from finishing 6th place in the Premier League. Their problems in finding the back of the net were well documented and Perisic could be a valuabe addition as a remedy for the same.
