Manchester United target Anderson Talisca has openly come out and revealed that talks are going on between us and his representatives regarding a move to Old Trafford. The Benfica midfielder, who has a £21million release clause has been linked with a move to United. Talisca’s comments have come after his teammate Victor Lindelof moved to Old Trafford.
Anderson Talisca spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Besiktas and made 33 appearances in all competitions. He directly contributed to 23 goals last season, as he scored 17 and assisted 6.
Asked if he was aware of any interest from Mourinho, Talisca said in a televised interview with Globoesporte (h/t Metro):
“It’s a question that I can not answer… yet. But it’s a love that exists, I will not lie. But it does not depend on me alone, it depends on Benfica and my agents who are dealing with the situation. Soon, there will be the news. It’s something that all players want [a move to Manchester United]. I had a good season and, as I said, his love is old and I like his work as well. I hope everything works out.”
This is a massive bit of information considering that a lot of speculation has been going on about our potential arrivals. Anderson Talisca was linked with us back in April as well and now with the player himself revealing that the negotiations are on, something could happen in the next few days.
However, it is hard to understand why we are after another attacking midfielder. We already have two extraordinary playmakers in Mkhitaryan and Mata. Though Mkhitaryan played on the right flank for us, he is a natural playmaker and the importance of Juan Mata cannot be ignored as well. Wayne Rooney is another player who has been used as an attacking midfielder in recent years.
There’s no shortage of attacking midfielders in United’s rank and Talisca’s arrival could possibly mean the end of at least one midfielder in our ranks.
We’ll have to wait to see who the casualty would be. Could it be Rooney? or Mata? We’ll find out soon I guess.
