£80Million Beast Striker Ready To Consider Manchester United And Snub Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is all set to snub a huge transfer from Chelsea in order to secure a move to Manchester United, according to The Sun. The Blues have been linked with their former player for almost a year.

Lukaku was on the verge of returning to Stamford Bridge last summer until Everton blocked the move. Now, the player’s transfer value has shot up even further after an incredible campaign in the Premier League. Everton have been able to compete for a Europa league place for much of the campaign largely thanks to goals from Lukaku.

The 23-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the top forwards in the Premier league. He now looks on course to winning the Golden Boot award after opening up a 3-goal advantage over second placed Harry Kane. Lukaku has scored 24 league goals this season while Kane has 21. Diego Costa, who was in impeccable form in the first half of the campaign, is a distant third with just 19 goals. As there are only 3 matches left in the season, there is a high probability of Lukaku ending up as the top scorer for the first time in his career.

This has reportedly increased his transfer value to £80million, according to the same source. More importantly, Lukaku is thought to have been seriously considering the idea of coming back to Chelsea. He has seen over the course of the campaign the tactics adopted by manager Antonio Conte. It has involved some serious pressing from the strikers or the forward players in order to win the ball back as soon as possible. Diego Costa has been able to perform this role with aplomb along with Pedro and Eden Hazard.

One of the biggest criticisms of Lukaku this season has been his inability to press the opposition. Even with all his goals, he has not been able to bring this attribute into his game. Lukaku is concerned that this will be a major negative when he links up with Chelsea and Antonio Conte. On the other hand, Chelsea have also been linked with a £60million move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata (h/t Express). Lukaku his concerned that he may once again fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Hence, he is ready to consider any interest from Manchester United, who are also on the lookout for a forward. Even though it means reuniting with Jose Mourinho, who sold him to Everton in the first place, Lukaku is ready to take the leap and join the Red Devils.
