Manchester United are growing concerned about the position of David de Gea with the player expected to leave the club at the end of the season. The goalkeeper has been a subject of a lot of transfer interest from Real Madrid, who are ready to pay any sum of money for the goalkeeper in order to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

In the event of losing their number one goalkeeper, United want to have a replacement lined up before the start of the summer transfer window. The club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers but according to Independent, Manchester United are once again ready to raid on Atletico Madrid.

De Gea was signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2013 for around £18million, thus making him one of the most expensive goalkeepers of all time. Now, they are ready to raid Atletico for Jan Oblak, who is widely regarded as the next big thing in the game. Jan Oblak was signed immediately after Atletico failed in their attempts to keep Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea. Even though he was brought in as a youngster, he has quickly grown into one of the top goalkeepers in Spanish football.

There is uncertainty surrounding Diego Simeone and it is widely expected that a number of top players will leave the club if the Argentine manager decides to jump ship. Simeone has been at Atletico for 5 years and he has been hugely responsible for the club’s transformation into one of the elite teams in Spanish football. Yet, there is a consensus that the former player may have taken the club has far as he can without substantial investment in the transfer market.

Antoine Griezmann is one of the players linked with Manchester United as well. Incidentally, Manchester United are overwhelming favourites to sign the French superstar. Even though United are expected to meet his release clause and do away with any negotiations with Atletico, the Red Devils clearly have a good relationship with the Spanish outfit and are ready to open negotiations over the transfer of Oblak.

The goalkeeper signed a new contract with Atletico only a few months ago and this contract is valid until the summer of 2021. Yet, this has been seen merely as an exercise to extract the maximum amount of transfer fee from any clubs interested in signing the player.
