Cesc Fabregas wanted by Manchester United (Liverpool are also interested)
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is on course to winning his second Premier League title with the blues, but it seems that all is not happy within the Spanish player’s camp. As a result of making just 10 starts in the Premier league this season, he is growing frustrated about life under Antonio Conte. While he has not made this displeasure public, it is understood that Fabregas may consider the opportunity to join a club where he will get regular first-team football.
Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly ready to take advantage of the situation by making a £25 million offer for the player in the summer. Fabregas may have just turned 30, but that does not stop clubs from showing a lot of interest in the world cup winner. The former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder has immense experience of playing in the Premier League. He has never been a player who has relied on pace, an attribute that he does not have much of, and this results in very fewer injuries. Fabregas has been more of a passer and his incredible passing vision has been the source of many goals for strikers over the last decade.
United need a new central midfielder following the departures of Morgan Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger in the last few months. The club are expected to make a new central midfielder as a top priority, and there have been reports of a £80 million raid of the French Ligue 1 for Bernardo Silva and Blaise Matuidi. With both players expected to cost in excess of £40 million, it is certainly an expensive proposition for the club. More importantly, it would be a risky move as both players are still unproven in the Premier League.
In this scenario, Fabregas represents a great option. Apart from costing less than both these players, he will be able to hit the ground running straight away. United are expected to strengthen the forward line-up with few stellar signing. Fabregas clicks when he has great attacking talents waiting for his passes in the forward areas.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea would be interested in the discussing terms for the player. Even though he has been more of an impact substitute, Conte has repeatedly stated that Fabregas remains an integral part of the team. Nemanja Matic and Fabregas have often swapped places in the Chelsea first-team this season, as N’Golo Kante has simply been irreplaceable.
