Manchester United have had to deal with rumours of David de Gea leaving the club for a number of years. The former Atletico Madrid man has been linked with a return to Spain and was actually close to signing for Real Madrid a couple of years ago.
While the Red Devils were able to hold onto their prized asset, it seems they are bracing themselves for his departure at the end of this season. The Premier League giants seem to have found his replacement in Jan Oblak, another Atletico Madrid keeper.
The Slovenian is only 24 at the moment and has grown in his role at the La Liga club. Oblak, just like De Gea, had a bit of a tough start to his new team but has turned out to be one of the best in Spain.
The Manchester Evening News claims that the La Liga side’s representatives visited the city to finalise the deal.
United would have to pay a whopping £85 million to sign Oblak up and that got the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
We share some of the thoughts of the United fans as they seem to be bringing in another keeper next season.
So we r getting Griezmann, Oblak, Belotti, Morata, Silva, Lindelof ,Isco AND Willian?
I know we are rich but had no idea we were THIS loaded https://t.co/8HsQ6AMn9n— Sadikshya Bhandari (@Sadikshya_) April 26, 2017
Selling De gea for 60m and getting Oblak for the same price won’t be a huge loss like it would have been few years ago. Replaceable now.

Utd won’t pay Oblak’s £85m clause so it’ll be interesting if we can negotiate it significantly. Donnarumma maybe cheaper but may not leave.

Crazy summer if we get Oblak and Griezmann at the same time

Can’t wait for another 3 years of Oblak “adjusting” to the Premier League

Dormamu or Oblak I dont even care. Get them SOLID defenders so they won’t do too much work.
