Manchester United are planning to raid Real Madrid by demanding two of their stars for De Gea.

Manchester United are ready to take advantage of a Real Madrid’s interest in David de Gea by demanding the arrival of Alvaro Morata and Raphael Varane in a swap deal. Madrid are extremely keen on bringing the Spanish goalkeeper, as they are looking for a world-class replacement Keylor Navas. The Madrid goalkeeper has also been culpable of some key mistakes during the campaign. De Gea is widely believed to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. His contract with United runs until the summer of 2019, thus giving a reasonable amount of power to the hands of the Premier League outfit.

However, United are aware that De Gea is extremely keen on a move to the Spanish capital. After having come through the ranks at Atletico Madrid, he came to Manchester as a teenager. Even though he initially struggled during his time at the club, De Gea has blossomed into one of the top goalkeepers of his generation. Still only 26 years old, he has the capability to carry on playing at the top level at least for the next decade. This quality seems to be appealing to Real Madrid, who are reportedly ready to be around £60 million for the goalkeeper. While this would create a new world record transfer fee for the goalkeeper, United are more interested in taking advantage of this interest by bringing in a defender and a striker in the summer.

It is no secret that Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of Varane and Alvaro Morata. The former was signed by Mourinho when he was in charge of the Spanish club, while the latter came through the ranks at the club when Mourinho was in charge. Signing both these players would represent a huge step in the right direction for the Red Devils, especially in the wake of the bad news surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish forward could be out for at least a year, according to the latest reports, and this would place a huge strain on the rest of the forwards at the club next season.

Mourinho has been keen on strengthening the attack with the club being heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. However, the French superstar will not come cheap and he will cost significantly more than Morata. Even though Madrid are not keen on selling Morata, they may eventually give in to the demands of United. A much simpler process is expected in the transfer negotiations for Varane, who is not a regular first-team player under Zinedine Zidane’s management. The club have already been looking at the prospect of selling the French defender in the summer in order to raise cash for a marquee signing.
