Manchester United Injury Update

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has provided the latest injury update on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo, and he didn’t sound too optimistic about their return.

Both Rojo and Ibrahimovic suffered injuries during Manchester United’s Europa League game against Anderlecht. United somehow beat them 2-1 to progress to the semifinals of the competition, but that came at the expense of two of their finest players.

Marcos Rojo had to be stretchered off after a couple of tackles he made and Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured himself after he landed awkwardly after going in for an air ball.

United progressed, as Rashford came to their rescue and scored a spectacular goal to send the Red Devils through. And Jose Mourinho now has revealed the latest update on his injured superstars and has said that he doesn’t think these injuries are easy.

It was concerning to hear the boss reveal the details. Mourinho said,

“I don’t think the are easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done and then speak. I can’t do that because I am a manager not a doctor. But the news is fairly negative I think.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Manchester United’s top scorer this season and has scored 28 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils. He also has 10 assists to show for and has been the most important part of the Manchester United attack this season. It will be a major blow for United if he remains out for too long.

However, United left-back Luke Shaw seemed to be positive about Ibra’s injury and said, “He’s fine. He was walking around in the changing room.”

While Marcos Rojo remains out, Mourinho assessed his options at centre-back and suggested that Jones and Smalling needed to be brave.

Mourinho said: “We have Daley Blind, who has experience in the position, and I think it is time for Jones and Smalling to be brave – to risk. Because for the team you have to do everything, that is the way I think. You cannot do miracles, so miracles I don’t expect, but they have to try to do everything to accelerate the process.”

Hopefully, the Manchester United duo doesn’t remain out for too long. They will be important for United to achieve their targets for the season. Nevertheless, the squad is full of quality players and Mourinho wouldn’t be scratching his head about the lack of back-ups being available.
