Manchester United are seriously considering the possibility of selling Adnan Januzaj, who has impressed in his loan spell at Sunderland. His loan spell does not appear to have been sufficient to convince manager Jose Mourinho that he deserves a spot in the Manchester United first-team, which is brimming with stars like Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. As a result, it looks like the only way forward for all parties involved is to sell the youngster, who made one of the most impressive debuts by any United young player in recent history.
Januzaj was heavily favoured in David Moyes’ single campaign at the club. He was one of the bright aspects in that disappointing season for United. Since then, Januzaj has failed to make an impression at United and he featured very little under Louis van Gaal. It was a surprise that the Dutchman did not use Januzaj much, as he has always been keen on promoting young talent.
Now, Jose Mourinho is someone who is after results and not promoting young players. Hence, it is not surprising to learn that the club are ready to do away with Januzaj in order to sign fresh and ready-made first-team players in the summer.
He has not scored in 21 league appearances, but he did provide moments of magic and he has contributed 3 assists. These are not figures United are looking for at the moment and the club would be keen on a player who will be able to dominate games just as in the way Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Wayne Rooney does.
Januzaj surely has no shortage of interest, as clubs from France, Italy and Germany are ready to welcome the opportunity of signing a player of his calibre. In his extended time at United, Januzaj has made 50 appearances for the Red Devils and has scored 5 goals. Januzaj’s time at United helped him make his debut for the Belgian national team in 2014. Yet, he would be remembered as a player who came so close to fulfilling his potential, yet so far away. At 22 years of age, though, he still has plenty of time to get his career back on track.
