Manchester United continued their pursuit of a top-four finish in the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 win over hapless Sunderland. Jose Mourinho did spin things around in the starting XI as Luke Shaw and Sergio Romero made starts and Marouane Fellaini was given the captain’s armband.
It was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who opened the scoring in the first half with a neat turn and finish before Sebastian Larsson got sent off for a reckless challenge on Ander Herrera. That was it for the Black Cats as Henrikh Mkhitaryan punished the home side with a goal early in the second half.
The away side had a number of other chances to extend the lead but left it late for the third goal which was scored by Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils next face Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-final first leg and that competition could be the sought after route to make it to the Champions League next season.
Twitter was abuzz with reactions from the game and we share the best ones from the Twitterati.

Manchester Utd’s season reminiscent of Gareth Bale’s last season at Tottenham Hotspur, being bailed out of each & every game by Ibrahimovic.
