The football transfer window is a frantic one, be it on the deadline day or be it on day one. Stars get linked to clubs and moves get collapsed in the final moments. There has never been a shortage of euphoria in the past. The summer of 2015 saw David De Gea almost make his move to Real Madrid, only for a spectacular collapse in the final minutes of the window.
Although it has now become usual for United fans to see the goalkeeper linked with a move to the Spanish capital, this time, though, the claim seems authentic. Yes.
David De Gea has once again been linked with Real Madrid, this time by Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda.
The journalist told Spanish TV show El Chiringuito that the player is interested and moving to Real Madrid and the club are also interested in signing the player.
As quoted by The Express: “Real Madrid are still thinking about a single goalkeeper, who is De Gea, but Mourinho is determined not to let him leave United. The player wants to play in Madrid anyway. What happened was that the agent of Keylor Navas delayed his move to United and there was no way to close the operation in 2015. De Gea believes that Manchester is hell because every day is black. The player has privately said that he wants to play for Real Madrid.”
It is a well-known fact that a move to Real Madrid was on for David De Gea in 2015 and a swap deal was agreed with Manchester United, involving Keylor Navas. Somehow, the move never happened and De Gea has remained a Red Devil. Spanish star even signed a new contract with the red devils which enabled him to earn £200,000/Week.
He has been spectacular for Manchester United and it is no surprise that there is interest for the player from Real Madrid. De Gea is considered one of the best shot-stoppers in the world right now and his price wouldn’t be anything low. He will surely be an expensive player to buy and to pay, but that shouldn’t be a problem for a club like Real Madrid who have always seen Galacticos play for the club. Buying star players is what they do and De Gea might be the next superstar to make his move to the Spanish capital.
This news is sure to shake up United fans but then, there has always been smoke about David De Gea’s future in England. However, it is not easy to conclude by considering this a rumour as a move did really happen in 2015, only for it to collapse in final minutes of the window.
So it is safe for United fans to keep their fingers crossed with this one and pray that the Spaniard decides to stay put in England for many more years to come.
