Manchester United Transfer News
Monaco’s Bernardo Silva could be the most expensive acquisition of the upcoming summer transfer window if reports are to be believed. The player has been rated at £ 70 million with several clubs like Manchester United showing interest. The 22-year-old is capable of playing right-wing or as an attacking midfielder. He is seen as the next big thing in world football. Monaco were able to prize him from Benfica for only £ 12 million in the summer of 2015. Since then, he has grown into one of the prominent players at the French club so much so that Monaco are back challenging for the league title once again. His playing style has earned him the nickname of ‘Little Messi’.
Only a few years ago, severe financial problems hit the French club so hard that they were unable to make Champions League qualification at the very least. Now, however, Radamel Falcao has been an excellent scoring fashion as he seems to have rediscovered his former glory days. He has been assisted by the performances of Silva, who has been showing a lot of maturity the season. He has featured in 25 league appearances and scored six goals. More importantly, he has contributed seven assists.
All these factors have led to a dramatic increase in the transfer rumours surrounding the 22-year-old, who has a contract with the club until the summer of 2020. Unlike in the case of other transfer rumours, there seems to be a lot of seriousness about this, considering that it has just been confirmed by Monaco’s vice president himself. Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said:
“ Yes, yes. I really don’t want to go into details, but for all our major players. we have interest from major European clubs.
“This is not the right time to talk about it.
“Let’s finish the season and then we look at the project for next season.”
Barcelona, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are the other clubs interested in signing the highly rated youngster. At 22 years of age, he is already experienced enough when it comes to title races. Monaco have been able to overpower Paris St Germain to the French league title leadership position. Not many expected the French club to be in such a good position after having played 26 games. Yet, Monaco have a three-point advantage over PSG while Nice are also level on points with Unai Emery’s club.
Monaco are certainly braced for offers in the summer, but it is highly unlikely they will sell the player for cheap. French club stand to receive a healthy profit on the player, as he could fetch around £70 million given the competition for his signature. United and Barcelona are likely to be biggest competitors for his signature, considering that both these clubs require far greater strengthening than any other opponent.
