A recent report from the Sky Sports has confirmed that the Championship club Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of one of Manchester United’s most promising midfielder Sean Goss for a mere fee of £500,000.
Goss was one of those many youngsters who came to the spotlight during the tenure of Louis van Gaal, but unlucky for him, he never managed to represent the senior side, as the closest he came was to being named on the bench during the clash against Watford back in 2015.
The German-born lifelong Manchester United supporter, Goss joined Manchester United back in 2012 from Exter City. Many tipped the 21-year-old to be a natural heir of Michael Carrick and even a few days back, it was reported (by M.E.N) that Jose Mourinho called the youngster alongside Axel Tuanzebe to train with the senior squad.
Goss was a regular feature for the side’s U-23 provision and he even provided an assist in their last week’s 1-0 win over Liverpool. He was an ever-present personnel for the U-21 side in their League title triumph back in 2015, but injuries postponed his senior team participation. But even after this, many would not have expected this to happen.
A loan deal would have been a fair reflection for the player touted as the next Michael Carrick, but this deal now has certainly come as a big bargain for QPR’s boss Ian Holloway.
With QPR sitting on the 17th spot in the Championship table, the boss will expect Goss to wave his skills in the upcoming games.
As per the United fans, this deal has been a major setback for their future:
Sean Goss is the closest thing we have to Carrick in our youth system currently. Hope there is a buy back clause if he goes to QPR! #MUFC
