A well deserved 3 points leave Manchester United closing the gap at the top of the table. A convincing away win comes at a much needed time as Jose Mourinho’s men were looking destined to finish outside of top 4, let alone fight for the title. The Red Devils will go into the International break with their heads held high, and it will come as a huge sigh of relief for United fans seeing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba get in the score sheets.
Although Mourinho’s team selection raised few eyebrows as Carrick, Fellaini, and the out of form Zlatan started the game ahead of both Rashford and Martial, the Swede scored two goals on the day to answer his critics. It was a game of milestones for the United front three as Zlatan’s first goal was Premier League’s 25,000th goal. His second goal was his 400th career club goal, while Rooney’s two assists helped him reach the milestone of 100 assists in the Premier League, a feat achieved only by Frank Lampard and Ryan Giggs.
Elsewhere, Carrick’s presence in the midfield brought a much-needed calmness to United’s gameplay. This is the 6th appearance for the English man this season and in all the 6 games he has led United to victories.
Here are some of the reactions from Twitter;
Good result. Great first half. Second half was difficult. Playing on the counter with no pace up top. Rooney excellent today.

Carrick is running the show, Mourinho must play him whenever he's fit. Gives players like Zlatan, Pogba & Rooney more space & better options
